How Chiropractic Care Helps Get Rid of Neck Pain | Chiropractor for Neck Pain in Mt. Dora, FL
All right, so what we want to address today in is how does Chiropractic and more specifically Upper Cervical Chiropractic help get rid of neck pain.
Upper Cervical Misalignments
So Upper Cervical simply means where your head and neck come together. That is the most critical part of the spine and nervous system because we’re getting closer and closer to your brain and your brain stem. Think of that as the main breaker, the fuse box, that lives inside the top two bones or the tail of your brainstem there. Okay, so that can lead to a whole host of issues if it’s misaligned. So through traumas as a child, things falls, sports injuries, car accidents, those incidents can be from your past, that can be from years back. Even just repetitive micro trauma sitting in a desk for eight hours a day and so on. What can happen is the skull and your head which weighs 10 pounds, can become misaligned off your two ounce bone that’s called your Atlas. So the entire way your head is sitting on these little joints, we can get a misalignment there, as soon as we have that misalignment, it can create a whole cascade of issues. Anything from spinal cord tension or cerebral spinal fluid flow, it can affect your Vestibular System and balance too.
How We Treat Upper Cervical Misalignments
One of the things that’s gonna happen, is that once we have a misalignment here, the nerves that control all of your postural muscles down your ankle, they emanate from this upper neck. When that happens, we’ll get a one sided contraction, like the left brain right body situation, where we’ll get a contraction on one side, which will highlight that leg. Then your posture is going to alter as you’re standing on a short leg, which can cause anything from knee pain to back pain, shoulder and neck pain, because now all the muscles are imbalanced and we actually have neurological stress from an upper neck misalignment. So in our office, again, we’ll do detailed analysis if it’s appropriate, and if we think we can help we’ll take imaging to find the exact misalignment. We’ll find out where it is, how it’s misaligned, how to correct it, and what exactly to do beyond that to make sure your neck and your body heals properly.
